Ampleforth Leg Warmer
Thanks to all competitors who came
and raced this event. We appreciate that it was not perfect in
terms of the distance from the parking area, long waits for starts
and remote finish area. Special thanks to those who used the official
parking area. Those who parked on the road side jeopardize competitors
safety and future events. If the venue can be secured for next
year we will limit the field to around 200 competitors and make
it a sprint distance event.

Swim: 750m (Pool)
Bike: 39k (Road)
Run: 10K (Road and surfaced paths)
Ampleforth College, near Helmsley, in North Yorkshire is hosting this exciting new event which will be the final qualifier for the British Triathlon Age Group Team for the European Standard Distance Championships 2009.
The event is an ideal early season
warm up race for athletes of all standards. It comprises of a
750m pool swim, 39k bike and 10k run.
The
bike course is a tough technical loop that is repeated twice.
It is more suited to a road bike with aero bars than a time trial
type bike. Yearsley Bank requires a 39x23 or similar gearing for
top riders and 39x25 for novices.
If conditions are wet a light trail
shoe is recommended for the run which has a steep climb approximately
half way through.
